korean design junggi kim has designed two products - 'think earth' and 'drink tap water' - which make us consider our impact on the environment. 'drink tap water' is a bio disposable plastic refillable water bottle with a lid shaped like a faucet handle. the motion of opening the water bottle is like that of turning on a tap,
making us reconsider drinking from the tap rather than buying bottled water. usually trash bins are designed for easy disposal. 'think earth' makes it harder to throw out garbage. it has a net that looks like an earth icon making it difficult to easily toss things out without having to place items through the openings. makes you think twice about what really is waste. junggi sung's work is currently on show as part of the 'bibimbop' exhibition at allegra laviola gallery, new york which is on until february 6th, 2010. the bibimbop exhibition has been organized by the korea institue of design promotion(KIDP) and curated by dongyun lee.
