I always hear about this show's "racist" background, and it was, but but in fun sort of way, no one ever comments on the major sin, Warren Mitchell is a life long Spurs fan, cockney bastard, LONG LIVE THE SCOUSE. Isn't it the source material for All In The family and Alf Garnet the character which inspired the character of Archie Bunker ?

As a young blackman watching this back in the day I loved it. Why? Warren Mitchell played this character that%uFEFF was full of contradictions perfectly. Its unfortunate that this can't be aired today as I think it would actually help race relations.

I agree with naboya12 , this was meant to be a comic look at attitudes in a lot of the older generation , I thought it was hilarious but it didn`t make me%uFEFF racist. Alf Garnett was there to be laughed at and back in those days we pissed ourselves XD
