Whether friend or foe, these outer-space creatures are our favorites...
Introduction
Since video games began, we’ve had creatures from outer space either trying to befriend us or trying to eradicate us from the face of the Earth. But regardless of what they’re up to, you’re bound to have a good time whenever extraterrestrials are around.
Crypto from the 'Destroy All Humans' series
If there’s such a thing as the quintessential alien, it just might be Crypto from the “Destroy All Humans” games. The foul-mouthed fella sounds just like
Jack Nicholson, and looks like he was ripped straight out of a ‘50s B movie. Plus, the little guy has some nifty space-alien toys, like the anal probe – which is really a device for stealing people’s brains!
Headcrabs from the 'Half-Life' series
Just like there are many different breeds of dogs, there are different kinds of headcrabs. But these vicious little parasites all have one thing in common: the desire to latch onto your body, tap into your nervous system, and turn you into their zombie puppet.
The Chimera from 'Resistance: Fall of Man'
In “Resistance: Fall of Man,” the Chimera are ugly, multi-eyed creatures determined to destroy humanity. But they don’t merely want to kill us. No, they want to infect us with a virus that causes humans to slowly mutate and transform into more Chimera. What a gruesome way to grow an army.
The Arbiter from the 'Halo' series
Not every alien is bent on ending mankind. Actually, if it wasn’t for the Arbiter stepping up and helping the humans, all life in the “Halo” world would have ceased to exist. Okay, maybe in the beginning this alien soldier wasn’t so human-friendly, but in the end the Arbiter more than redeemed himself.
'Space Invaders'
No list of video game aliens would be complete without mentioning the granddaddy of them all: “Space Invaders.” These blocky creatures, who moved across the screen in unison, may have only intended to attack Earth, but what they accomplished was to steal all our money - one quarter at a time.
