High Savannah Fashion- the First Fashion for Peace
the Fashion for Peace show that was held in Nairobi National Park in Kenya by the Festival for African Fashion and Arts. To my knowledge all the designers were African, most of them Kenyan, but some hailing from South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, etc. The captions along with the slideshow explain the reason behind the fashion show:

The first Fashion for Peace show was held last year in response to violence following the Dec. 27, 2007, elections in Kenya. In 2008, more than 1,000 Kenyans were killed and hundreds of thousands driven from their homes in the aftermath of the vote. Much of the fighting, like the voting, was along ethnic lines..Though widespread food shortages and ethic tensions persist, Kenya enjoys a relative peace. In response to the country’s changing political climate, this year’s event, held in April 2009, focused more on promoting Kenyan fashion beyond the country’s borders than on a clarion call for peace.
